Story Events (2019)Story Events is a creative events agency in London who aim to tell a story through their bespoke client events. They have another division of their company called Venue Search London which is a free online venue finding service. During my time at Story Events I helped with both divisions of the company while in the office as well as assisting with the set up and 2 day event of the London Christmas Party Show. This event is an annual event which is run every year for corporates, venues, suppliers, charities and event agencies.
Some of my roles included assisting exhibitors to their stands and helping them with the set up of their stand and welcoming guests at registration. In the office, tasks included creating venue proposals for clients and creating news/blog posts for Venue Search London's website. This allowed me to develop me content writing skills as well as my problem solving skills. Working with Story Events allowed me to explore what sector of the events industry I wanted a career in. Below are pictures I took during the London Christmas Party Show: Rendezvous Events (2018)Rendezvous Events is another events agency based in London that create private and corporate events worldwide. During my work placement at Rendezvous Events, my role consisted of researching into venues, contacting venues about summer packages and attending site visits. Although I didn't attend any of their events during my placement, it enabled me to develop some of my other skills including researching and creativity skills as well as exploring different venues in London which helped build my knowledge of potential venues available. Two venues I visited included The Hari Hotel and The Brewery, they both were very different venues as one had a small capacity and one had a very large capacity.
Energise Squared (2018)Energise Squared is an event management and fundraising consultancy based in London. Many of their events are focused on raising money for charities and have had major success with them. While working for the company I assisted with 3 large events, a Fundraising Gala Dinner, Holocaust Memorial Day event and an Awards Night. All these 3 events were very unique and different allowing me to expand my event experience and knowledge. Some of my roles onsite included looking after VIP guests, distributing pledge cards and communicating with the team. Although it was stressful at times, it allowed me to develop my time management and organisational skills.
When in the office, my responsibilities included researching and negotiating with potential venues, creatively think of potential ideas for events, inputting information on their database as well as preparing key elements for their events. As this was the first event placement I did, it allowed me to learn a lot of new skills and knowledge within the events industry including building my confidence communicating within a team.
